Proposal for a
Trans Global Highway
by Frank Didik
2006

This model depicts a type of suspended under the ocean tunnel. Though the model shows a clear tunnel, an actual tunnel would be constructed out of prefabricated, steel reenforced concrete sections, fused together. As with any tunnel, such a tunnel would be constantly inspected for wear. A suspended tunnel would only be logical through particularly deep areas of the ocean. In general, most of the tunnels that would be necessary for the proposed Trans Global highway, would be dug in the conventional, modern way using high speed tunnel boring machines. The three key tunnels proposed, including the Bearing Strait Tunnel, the Hokkaido - Sakhalin Tunnel and the Spain - North Africa Tunnel would all be under shallow ocean water and would not require a suspended system of this type or other type.
